Pico Loro is one of the one of the most popular peaks in the national natural park Farallones de Cali. Since december i have climb to the top like 4 or 5 times and always have been an amazing experience.
Pico Loro is basically a big rock that crown the ascent at 2900 m (9870 ft) and there´s just one route to ge up there: fisrt you have to arrive to El Topacio, near Pueblo Pance (public transport goes there). at El Topacio there are several paths for everyone to walk, and leads to waterfalls, but Pico Loro is the most popular place there.
To the top you must walk across fog forest, its a beatiful high-andian forest, very wet and with dense vegetation. As you start at 1500 m (5000 ft) is a very high slope trek and sometimes u have to climb supporting on roots and rocks. When you get to the top, u have at view the cauca river valley at east and central mountains, and to the west the highest Farallones Peaks: el elefante (the elephant) and Pico Pance at 4100 m (13670 ft). Further i'll hang up some pics of those. Now the images.
